Hydrostatic
testing
(over pressurization
test) are
done because
most municipalities,
cities or
states require
that a plumbing
or mechanical
piping contractor
Pressurize
their finished
work to
insure that
the system
is safe
and free
of leaks.
The piping
must be
pressurized
to a higher
than normal
working
pressure
and be capable
of holding
this pressure
for a certain
length of
time. These
requirements
may vary
from state
to state
and county
to county.
Water is
used rather
than air
because
water cannot
be significantly
compressed
like air,
so if there
is a leak
or failure
of the piping
system there
is no great
explosion.
How? Hydrostatic
test pumps
are the
tools used
to get the
excess water
pressure
into the
system.
The
oldest and
slowest
way to pressurize
piping is
with the
use of a
piston operated
hand pump.
The hand
pump is
slow and
somewhat
difficult
to use.
It could
literally
take hours
to pump
up a system
and you
sure don't
want to
have any
leaks and
have to
start all
over again.
The
most widely
used test
pumps today
in the plumbing/mechanical
piping industries
are electric
although
gas powered
units are
used in
applications
where high
volume and/or
high pressures
are required.
Today's
mechanical
contractor
should demand
no less
than the
latest in
pump technology.
In most
cases this
kind of
technology
costs less
and is much
more profitable
to use.
Triple
R Specialty's Hydrostatic
test pumps are
some of
the most
modern on
the market.
We use aluminum
alloy materials
and power
them by
gas; electric
and even
some operate
off of your
truck battery.
The best
test pumps
include
a full flow
bypass and
a pressure
adjustment
capable
of regulating
pressures
from 100
psi and
up. Lightweight
models are
the norm,
out with
heavy cumbersome
units; Triple
R's units
start at
only 22
lbs and
include
all hoses
and fittings
needed to
do the job.
No extras
needed.
Triple-R-Specialty
has been
building
specialty
tools to
meet the
needs of
the piping
industry
for 14 years
and our
products
meet or
exceed the
difficult
demands
of the modern
contractor.
